The present study analyzed a modulating effect of adaptation to chronic intermittent hypoxia on the expression and/or activation of select regulatory proteins (MMP-2, p-38, carbonic anhydrase IX, ERK-2, aFGF, JNK, Akt kinase) in the left and right ventricle of adult rat hearts. The results demonstrated that adaptation to chronic hypoxia is associated with distinct changes in the levels and activation of several regulatory proteins in two ventricles
