Unikátní přístup k ochraně kulturních rostlin proti hmyzím škůdcům pomocí GM rostlin, přičemž chráněná plodina sama nemusí být geneticky modifikovaná. Byly připraveny transgenní rostliny tabáku, schopné vytvářet hmyzí feromon, vedoucí ke snížení populace škůdce bez použít toxických postřiků.

A novel approach for protection of crops against insect pests using genetically modified plants, while the protected crop is not necessarily transgenic. Transgenic tobacco plants were prepared able to produce insect pheromone, leading to reduction of pest population without need for excessive use of toxic chemicals.
