Brassinosteroids are potent plant-growth promoting steroids. The importance of their biological properties led to the synthesis of these substances and to the investigation of structure-activity relationships. Antiproliferative and cytotoxic activity of natural brassinosteroids and their structural derivatives on the range of human and animal cell lines have been tested.

Brassinosteroidy jsou steroidy se stimulačním účinkem na růst rostlin. Význam jejich biologických vlastností vedl k syntéze těchto látek a k výzkumu vztahů mezi strukturou a reaktivitou. Byla testována antiproliferační a cytotoxická aktivita přírodních brassinosteroidů a jejich strukturních derivátů v řadě lidských i zvířecích buněčných linií.
