Výstava představila Československo jako demokratickou zemi, otevřenou během nedlouhých dvaceti několika vlnám politické emigrace z okolních zemí. Exponáty výstavy a doprovodné texty katalogu se zaměřily nejen na již celkem dobře osvětlené skupiny emigrace, většinou soustředěné na známé osobnosti z bývalé ruské říše (Rusové, Ukrajinci i další národy) či z nacistického Německa a v souvislosti s tím z Rakouska, ale rovněž na uprchlíky z Maďarska po r. 1919 a vedle osob slavných i na ty, kteří běžně unikají pohledu historiografie.

The exhibition represented interwar Czechoslovakia as democratic country opened to several waves of political emigration from neighbouring countries during not long twenty years of its free existence. Exhibits and accompanying texts in the catalogue were targeted not only as a whole already well alight groups of emigration, mostly focused at the well-known personalities from the former Russian empire (Russians, Ukrainians, and of course also other nations and ethnics) or from Nazi Germany and later from Austria either, but also at refugees from Hungary after 1919 and besides notorious personages at these usually fading from the point of view of historiography.
