The publication comes as a follow-up of some previously published works resulting from the cooperation of geographers in various countries (Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, Belarus, Czech Republic) and concerning the issue of man-nature relations. The most recent of these publications are “Nature use in different conditions of human impact“ (2000), “Man and landscape“ (2001), and “Regional aspects of land use“ (2002). This publication was prepared in the cooperation between the of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin (Poland) and the Institute of Geonics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Branch Brno (Czech Republic) under the patronage the Faculty of Earth Sciences, University of Silesia, Sosnowiec (Poland). Individual contributions were supplied by experts from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine. They are focused on the issues of human impact on the landscape and its components (especially on relief, water and biota), landscape succession and land cover development in cultural landscapes, relations and processes in the rural landscape.

Předkládaná publikace navazuje na již publikované práce, které byly výsledkem spolupráce geografů z různých zemí (Polsko, Ukrajina, Rusko, Maďarsko, Bělorusko, Česká republika) a týkaly se problematiky vztahů člověka a přírody. V posledním období vyšly „Nature use in the different conditions of human impact“ (2000), „Man and landscape“ (2001), „Regional aspects of land use“ (2002). Tato publikace byla připravena ve spolupráci the University of Marie Curie-Sklodowska Lublin (Poland) and the Institute of Geonics, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Branch Brno (Czech Republic) pod patronací the Earth Sciences Faculty of University of Silesia (Poland). Jednotlivé příspěvky zpracovali specialisté z Polska, České republiky, Slovenska, Ukrajiny. Tematicky jsou příspěvky zaměřeny na problematiku vlivu lidské činnosti na krajinu a její složky (zejména reliéf, vodu a biotu), krajinnou sukcesi a vývoj land cover v kulturních krajinách, vztahy a procesy v zemědělské krajině.
