Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an overview of the Old Church Slavonic words discussed in previous etymological research as loanwords from Romance. The borrowings are classified into several groups according to their likelihood of being of Romance origin; beside the main group of almost certain ones, many others have competing explanations (Germanic, Greek, or native) with different levels of probability. The ranking then serves as a basis for addressing the issue of possible Old Church Slavonic influence on corresponding Old Czech words. Some criteria for determining Old Church Slavonic borrowings of Romance (and Germanic) origin in Old Czech are discussed, with the emphasis on the geographical one.
