18th International Symposium on intercalation compounds

Invitation to the symposium

On behalf of the organizing committee of the International Symposium on Intercalation Compounds (ISIC), we have the honor to invite you to attend ISIC18, which will be held in Strasbourg, France,  May 31- June 4 2015. The ISIC series was initiated in 1977 in La Napoule, France, and is held biannually in Europe, Asia and America. Over 250 researchers from all over the world attended the recent symposia in Seoul, Korea (2007), Beijing, China (2009),  Seč-Ústupky, Czech Republic (2011) and Sendai, Japan (2013). The 18th ISIC is again to be held in France.

The intercalation compounds represent a very broad field of research concerning inorganic or hybrid organic-inorganic systems,  either natural or synthetic. The control of the intercalation process necessitates an accurate knowledge of structure, reactivity and interfaces, at different scales. This concern pushes forward to the development of specific structural, physico-chemical or spectroscopic characterization techniques, as well as appropriate theoretical approaches. Moreover, intercalation systems are so various that they are the basis of many applications in environmental sciences, energy, drug delivery, biology, magnetism, optics or electronics. This Symposium covers the theme of the intercalation compounds in its broadest sense and gives a unique opportunity for all chemists, physicists and materials scientists to get together and share their ideas on this important field of science. The organizers welcome contributions providing new insights into all topics connected with the intercalation compounds.

The ISIC18 conference will encompass few plenary lectures and some keynotes by invited speakers. Most of the time will be devoted to oral and poster presentations on recent work by all registered attendees.

The following speakers have already accepted to give invited lectures :

Sylvian Cadars, Laboratoire des Conditions Extrêmes et Matériaux: Haute Température et Irradiation, Orléans, France

Yaroslav Filinchuk, Institute of Condensed Matter and Nanosciences, Molecules, Solids and Reactivity (MOST), Louvain la Neuve, Belgique.

Chris Greenwell, Department of Chemistry, Durham University, United Kingdom

Yuhei Hayamizu, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan

Patricia Horcajada, Institut Lavoisier, Versailles, France

Takayoshi Sasaki, National Institute of Materials Science, Tsukuba, Japan

Katsumi Tanigaki, Advanced Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, Japan

Jean-Marie Tarascon, Collège de France, Paris, France
