Four data sets were analyzed: a) ITS1, 5.8S rDNA and ITS2, b) nc28S rDNA, c) nc18S rDNA, and d) a combined data set of ncLSU-ncSSU-RPB2. A new genus, Reticulascus, is introduced for Ch. tulasneorum with associated Cylindrotrichum anamorph; another species of Reticulascus is described as new. Australiasca laeënse is introduced as a new species. The taxonomic structure of the Glomerellales is clarified and the name is validly published. The order includes three families, the Australiascaceae, Glomerellaceae and Reticulascaceae. Phylogenetic analyses clarify family relationships within the Microascales. The family Ceratocystidaceae is validated, the new family Gondwanamycetaceae is introduced.
