Preliminary analysis had shown it to be highly toxic to mosquitoes and to require less time to grow in incubation than other strains. Mosquitocidal activities were tested against Aedes aegypti, Ae. albopictus, and Culex quinquefasciatus. Its mosquitocidal activity was twofold higher than that of the control strain IPS82, a mosquitocidal strain used in Bti control products. It had a higher growth rate than IPS82, which would reduce its cost in commercial use by shortening the production cycle. It was indicated that LLP29 could have potential as a biocontrol agent for controlling mosquitoes and preventing mosquito-borne diseases.
