Mesomorphic and dielectric behaviour of pure and composite systems have been studied in order to understand the effect of anisotropic impurity (MWCNTs) near the N*-SmC* and SmC*-Cr phase transitions. Thermo-optical studies inferring no significant change in the presence of MWCNTs. Small shift of 5 K in the clearing point has been observed for all the composite systems. Dielectric measurements reveal that the MWCNTs influenced the permittivity: composite systems show the increase in the permittivity at higher MWCNTs concentration. For pure FLC and composite systems relaxation time, relaxation frequency and dielectric strength have been evaluated and discussed.
