The terrestrial molluscan fauna was dominated by woodland communities. Records of the Alpine elements Macrogastra badia and Petasina edentula are of prime importance. Further, the Boreo-Alpine species Discus ruderatus, Vertigo substriata, Vertigo alpestris, Clausilia cruciata and the relic Perpolita petronella, classified as typical mountain elements in the central-European region, were recorded at numerous localities at elevations from 670 – 1150 m. A comparative study based on recent and historical data between the molluscan communities of the Bavarian Forest and Bohemian Forest National Parks revealed some differences in the occurrence and/or absence of some species, with a ratio of 68 (German) to 74 (Czech).
