Překlad anotaceThe paper focuses on the eschatological schemes within the learned scholarly discourse and within the political propaganda among the Czech Protestant Intellectuals at the beginning of the Thirty Years War. First, it discusses astronomical phenomena such as the comet of 1618 which were widely commented both in astronomical terms and as divine signs and which reinforced eschatological expectations. Secondly, chronological works on world history compiled by the Czech exiles are analysed. These treatises used eschatological frameworks and attempted to calculate the end of the world while placing Bohemian history into this context. Thirdly, the new evidence on Czech interest in Rosicrucian manifestos is presented. Rosicrucian writings clearly fascinated some of the Czech Protestant intellectuals and supported general eschatological expectations.
