The karyotypes with 32, 36, 52, 56, 58, and 62 chromosomes were recorded among the studied species, with the rather stable number of autosomal arms (NFa = 60, 62, 64). The complements with 32 chromosomes seem similar between species of Rhinolophus and Hipposideros. The parallel pattern of chromosomal evolution may provide another support for a close phylogenetic relationship of the two families, and both the genera can be conceived as a single evolutionary unit in this respect.
