Anotace
Wie kaum ein anderer hat Jan Patocka die Reflexion über Europa in den Mittelpunkt seines Denkens gestellt. Besonders daran ist allerdings, dass Europa bei ihm keinen positiven "Bestand", keinen Kern im Sinne eines "Europa ist …" zu haben scheint. Patockas Hervorhebung des Prinzips der Differenz und seine durchaus verstörende Hinwendung zum Polemos tragen erkennbar nietzscheanische Züge und verbinden sich mit einer Kritik an der Metaphysik, die für ihn nicht "Überwindung des Nihilismus, sondern dessen eigentliche Brutstätte" ist. Ausgehend von Nietzsches Betrachtungen zum "guten Europäer" erläutert der Artikel Patockas Idee des (Nach-)Europäischen.

Reflections on Europe are in the center of Patocka's thought. But his notion of Europe doesn't seem to have a positive core in the sense of "Europe is... " Patocka emphasizes a principle of difference, and his disturbing orientation towards polemeos obviously reveals Nietzschean traits, formulating a critique of metaphysics which, to Patocka, is not "the overcoming of nihilism, but its true breeding ground". Leaning on Nietzsche's remarks concerning the "Good European", the article explores Patocka's concept of Europe as Post-Europe.
