Seven microscopically positive samples (3.4%) originating from 6 children and 1 adult were determined using PCR amplifying species-specific DNA sequences of SSU rRNA. The majority represented the C. parvum bovine genotype, which was found in five cases. One was C. hominis and one was found to contain the Cryptosporidium pig genotype II. The host of Cryptosporidium pig genotype II, 29-year-old man was also infected with Giardia intestinalis Assemblage A. This is the first documented case of human infection caused by this Cryptosporidium genotype.
