Překlad anotace Mikulčice in the 9th century was notable for its unusually large number of churches. There were at least ten. The churches reflected above all a huge concentration of political power in the town. Christianity was a new ideology of the state of Greater Moravia, which had itself recently come into being, and the churches represented the power, independence and faith of the ruling dynasty of the Mojmírs, who probably had their principal residence in Mikulčice.
