With respect to ploidy level and reproductive mode, the apomictic mothers produced more diverse progeny than did the sexual mothers. The role of the high-polyploid hybrids, which arose from fertilized unreduced female gametes of apomicts, is pointed out. Such hybrids serve as important source of population diversity due to their ability of versatile reproduction.
