The base material of the pipes was 0.5Cr-0.5Mo-0.3V steel. Specimens for small punch tests were taken from strictly localised places: from the base material, from the weld material and from the heat-affected zone. Two types of specimens for conventional creep testing were prepared from the same weld: they were cut either exclusively from the base material or as cross-weld specimens. Results of both testing types, i.e., conventional creep and small punch, are compared and discussed with the aim of demonstrating the possibility of using small punch tests to characterise the damage sensitivity of various regions of the welds.
