Difficulties are seen in traditional descriptive character of education in the field on one hand and in unclear methods of regional syntheses, especially between physical and human aspects of regions. The situation is complicated with tendencies to deepen specialisation of individual geographical branches. The authors connect the future of regional geography with the future of geography generally. Modern regional geography in this sense has to be not a simple set of knowledge assumed from individual geographical branches but a supreme geographical discipline dealing with regions and using specific methods including GIS. Relation between natural and human aspects and factors are the key relation in regional systems. To define proportions between specific features and general characteristics of regions is the main objective of the study. It is necessary to build the theory of regional geography using partial theories: regionalization, hierarchy of regions, regional typology, partially synthetic approaches in geography.
