To the ambiguous lectotype for Scirpus compactus an epitype is added, which fixes the name as a synonym of Bolboschoenus maritimus. The lectotype for Scirpus maritimus var. cymosus belongs to Bolboschoenus laticarpus. The holotype of Scirpus macrostachys is ambiguous and an epitype is chosen which supports its synonymy with Bolboschoenus glaucus. The taxonomic significance of the macrostachyate morphotype is discussed.
