Ce chapitre met en regard la philosophie de Fernando Gil et la pensée d’Aby Warburg autour de la question : qu’est-ce que s’orienter? Il s’agit de penser le passage de l’évidence sensible à l’abstraction rationnelle en accordant aux images et à l’imagination un rôle essentiel. L’étude montre comment la perspective du philosophe et celle du “psycho-historien de l’expression humaine” se croisent dans la réflexion sur la forme, le rituel magique, l’imagination et la mémoire, le devenir rationnel du sujet.

This Chapter links and compares Fernando Gil’s philosophy and Aby Warburg’s thought, drawing upon the question: What does that mean to orientate oneself? It aims at understanding the bridge that exists between sensitive evidence and rational abstraction, devoting a crucial role to the faculty of imagination. The study shows how the paths of the philosopher and the “psycho-historian of human expression” cross in their thematization of form, magical ritual, imagination and memory, and rationnal-becoming of the subject.
