Two little-known nematode species identified as Dichelyne fastigatus Chandler, 1935 (Cucullanidae) and Rhabdochona ovifilamenta Weller, 1938 (Rhabdochonidae) from fishes Sciaenops ocellatus (L.) and Moxostoma macrolepidotum (Lesueur), respectively, in South Carolina, USA were examined using light and scanning electron microscopy. Some previously unreported taxonomic features in the former species and a high degree of morphologic and biometric variability in the latter made it possible to distinguish both species from their North Amerian congeners and to synonymize Rhabdochona laurentiana Lyster, 1940, R. milleri Choquette, 1951 and R. catostomi Kayton et al., 1979 with R. ovifilamenta, typically a parasite of North American catostomids.
