Kapitola se zabývá raným dílem Huga Demartiniho, předně lety 1959 - 1962/63, kdy se jeho sochařská tvorba vyvázala z uměleckého školení a vstoupila do evropského proudu tzv. jiného umění a nové citlivosti. Seznamujeme se s reliéfy vzniklými bombírováním a spontánním prorážením výchozí plochy a s otisky a vtisky konkrétních předmětů do tvárného podkladu; sledujeme prosazování vůle k řádu a k systematičnost vznikajících struktur i s vzrůstajícím důrazem na možnou koexistenci náhody a řádu, jež se stala podstatným rysem umělcova následného díla.

This chapter is devoted to Hugo Demartini (1931-2010), a leading figure of modern Czech sculpture. It provides an initiate’s insights into the artist’s work and his wealth of ideas. The monograph covers various periods of the artist’s career, beginning with his early abstract work, his focus on the structure of spheres and their parts, outdoor happenings, and finally cubic Objects, Models of a place, and Installations in which the artist investigated the effects of randomness, order, and order within disorder that eventually became the central theme of his work.
