The dissected landscape of Zlatohorská vrchovina Uplands in surrounding of village Jelení has retained features of landscape structure, which was created by stripes of fields diverging to both sides of valleys. This paper deals with development of farming since origin of this village in 17th century over its extinction and to present time with emphasis on characteristic features of landscape in reference to its stability and the dynamics of fluvial processes in small catchments. The means of farming and cultivating individual fields within the band structure appears – from present point of view – as very thrifty, stabilizing itself after beginning unsteady period of deforestation.
