A new genus, Cronbergia (Nostocaceae) is described. The diacritical features is the structure of filaments, mode of akinete development and particularly the type of heterocyte formation, which is quite special within the whole family. The position of the new genus was supported also by molecular sequencing. In the article is described the new genus and reviewed four species classified into this genus.
