L´époque des Grandes Migration – on disait naguère en France les „Grandes Invasion“ coïncide avec la fin du monde antique. Elle s´étate à peu près du IIIe siècle au VIIIe siècle de notre ère. Le trait caractéristique de la période de transition entre l´Antiquité tardive et la haut Moyen Âge est l´emergence de nouvelles „gentes“ et de leurs royaumes, Goths, Lombards, Alemans, Francs etc.

A contribution to the prestige book which takes as its starting point a resolutely continental- wide perpective in order to highlight the untily and diversity of European archaeology and history. It is focused on the era of the "Barbarian invasions" which was an epoche of historical and social transformation of the varios people of Roman Empire on one hand and the barbarian populations on the other hand mixing together and reorganising themselves to form a new feudal order. The contribution occupies the historical and archaelogical development of the main Germanic gentes of the continental Europe: Goths, Langobards, Alemanns, Francs etc. from their beginning until the building up of their states in the way which make it available to a wider audience.

Příspěvek do prestižní knihy, která si klade za cíl z hlediska široké celoevropské perspektivy osvětlit a vyzvednout jednotnost i rozdílnosti kontinentálního vývoje na základě historických i archeologických pramenů od nejstarších dob až po časný středověk. Je zaměřen na období "barbarských invazí", tedy období zásadních dějinných a sociálních přeměn přežívajících obyvatel v rámci římského imperia na straně jedné a vnějších barbarských populací na straně druhé, které postupnou vzájemnou integrací a reorganizací vlastních společenstev vytvářely nový feudální řád. Příspěvek zachycuje historický a archeologický vývoj hlavních germánských "gentes" kontinentální Evropy, Gotů, Langobardů, Alamanů, Franků atd. od jejich počátků až po vytváření jejich států způsobem srozumitelným širší veřejnosti.
