Stať sleduje stavební vývoj kostela v historickém a umělecko-historickém kontextu od vzniku v pozdně románském období po 20. století. Pokouší se dispozici kostela zařadit do širších souvislostí, konstatuje dominantní vlivy z Moravy, západního Slovenska a Slezska, srovnává gotickou přestavbu objektu se stavebním dění v Olomouci ve 14. století a pozdně barokní přestavbu propojuje s dílem Michaela Clementa. K přínosům patří identifikace autora přestavby v období historismu – krnovského stavitele Karla Latzela.

The article follows the building history of St. Benedict church' from it's foundation in the late Romanesque period till the 20th century and puts it in the historical and art historical context. Moreover, it is also trying to incorporate the disposition of the church into a wider context. The author also states dominant influences from Moravia, West Slovakia and Silesia; compares the Gothic reconstruction of the building with other edifices built in Olomouc in the 14th century and connects the late Baroque reconstruction with the works of Michael Clement. Among the assets of the text belongs the identification of Karel Latzel, a builder from Krnov, as the author of the reconstruction done in the period of historicism.
