Stať připomíná roli historika Jana Galandauera v poměrech tzv. normalizace 70. a 80. let 20. století v Československu, kdy programově využíval svého působení v tehdejším Ústavu marxismu-leninismu k rozvíjení objektivního historického výzkumu na poli novodobých českých dějin a k podpoře memoárové tvorby pamětníků včetně někdejších politických protivníků KSČ. Konkrétně zaznamenává jeho iniciativu a spolupráci při vzniku dokumentárně cenných memoárových rukopisů národně demokratického politika dr. Vlastimila Klímy a jeho zásadní podíl na prolomení dogmatického oficiálního přístupu k hodnocení osobnosti, díla a odkazu T. G. Masaryka ve druhé polovině osmdesátých let.

The paper remembers the role of the historian Jan Galandauer in the time of the so-called "normalisation" in the 1970’s and 1980’s in Czechoslovakia when he intentionally took advantage of his activity at the Institute of Marxism and Leninism to support the matter-of-fact historical research in the field of the Czech modern history and to encourage the memoirs writing by contemporary witnesses including former political rivals of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. Particularly, it describes his initiative and collaboration on the origins of the historically valuable memoirs written by Vlastimil Klíma, a politician of the National Democratic Party, and his crucial contribution to breaching the official dogmatic approach in the terms of evaluation of the T. G. Masaryk personality, his work and legacy in the second half of the 1980’s.
