Kniha vypovídá o vztahu kolegů na pražské české univerzitě Tomáše G. Masaryka (1850-1937) a Antonína Rezka (1853-1909). Publikace obsahuje úvodní studii "Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk a Antonín Rezek: mezi vědou a politikou". Nejobjemnější část knihy tvoří edice souboru dostupné vzájemné korespondence sociologa T. G. Masaryka a historika A. Rezka z let 1882-1905. Zpřístupněná, chronologicky řazená korespondence čítá 104 dokumentů. T. G. Masaryk je autorem 89 kusů a A. Rezek 15 kusů korespondence. Dokumenty odrážejí vědeckou práci obou povahově odlišných mužů, jejich organizační aktivity a participaci v aktivní politice. T. G. Masaryk v ní získal poslanecký mandát a A. Rezek se stal ministrem. Aparát publikace zahrnuje též ediční úvod, seznam editovaných dokumentů, osobní rejstřík a obrazovou přílohu.

The publication testifies about professional and personal relations T. G. Masaryk (1850-1937) and A. Rezek (1853-1909). It contains an introductory study "Tomáš G. Masaryk and Antonín Rezek: Between Science and Politics". The substantial part of the publication consists of letters between Masaryk and Rezek in 1882-1905. Other useful parts of the publication are Editorial Introduction, a List of Edited Documents, Index of Names in the book, and several illustrations. The collection contains 104 documents: Masaryk is author of 89 and Rezek of 15. The documents are organized chronologically. The twenty years lasting correspondence reflects important aspects of the academic and personal relations between both men, including their differences, related to organizational activities, the life of the University, Czech society and the Austrian state. As a whole the volume will be very important addition to published sources related to Czech modern history.
