A new polymorph of dibenzo-18-crown-6 oxonium perchlorate, C20H24O6.(H3O)+.ClO4-, was prepared and characterized. The asymmetric unit contains two molecules of dibenzo-18-crown-6 with complexed oxonium ion inside its cavity. Corresponding perchlorate molecules are hydrogen-bounded to the oxonium ion. Both molecules are present in butterfly conformation with approximate symmetry C2v and their cavities are closed by the phenyl ring of the neighbouring molecule. The arrangement is held by CH-pi inter¬actions between the phenyl rings.
