Zmieniające się na przestrzeni wieków uwarunkowania geopolityczne oraz kulturowe w Europie Środkowej i Wschodniej nie pozostały bez wpływu na kształtowanie się obrazów Polski i Polaków w oczach społeczeństwa czeskiego. Autor w syntetycznym ujęciu zaznajamia czytelnika z powyższą problematyką, pokazując jednocześnie stałość stereotypów narodowych, jak też ich przemiany w długim trwaniu.

The geopolitical and cultural conditions of Central and Eastern Europe, which have changed greatly during the past centuries, could not have failed to influence the process of forming a picture of Poland and the Poles in the eyes of Czech society. The author introduces readers to the issue with a synthetic vision, and at the same time, indicates both the persistency of national stereotypes and their changes over the long term (longue durée).
