In this manuscript, from a scientific and historical perspective; we covered the actual understanding not only neuronal networks and their importance in cognition, but also their relationship with a probably much more complex network made by neuroglia;which can underlay the key for the understanding of nervous function and treatment of multiple neurological disorders, including neurodegeneration
