Die Abteilung für Katalogisierung und Studium der Handschriften ist das Zentrum der kodikologischen Forschung in der Tschechischen Republik. Der Gegenstand ihrer Forschung sind Handschriften nichtamtlicher Art, die komplex erforscht werden. Das Arbeitsprogramm der Abteilung wurde im Jahre 1969 präzisiert, im dem zu seiner Grundaufgabe der Gesamtkatalog der sich auf dem Gebiet der Tschechischen Republik befindenden Handschriften und der handschriftlichen Bohemica im Ausland wurde. Als die Grundform des Gesamtkatalogs dient die Datenbank Clavius der Firma Lanius, der die Handschriftenkatalogisierung laut den Grundsätzen der Handschriftenbeschreibung ermöglicht. Die Datenbank bringt die Möglichkeit einer ständigen Aktualisierung mit. Die Daten werden schrittweise nach Gesamtheiten veröffentlicht.

The Department for the Cataloguing and Study of Manuscripts is the center of the codicological research in the Czech Republic. The subject of its study are the manuscripts of the unofficial nature, which are examined not only in perspective of content, but also in perspective of external signs. In 1969, the General Catalogue of Manuscripts became the essential task of our department. The basic form of the General Catalogue of Manuscripts is a database of manuscripts. It is a library system Clavius from the Lanius company, which allows cataloging of manuscripts according to the Principles of the Manuscript Description. The database provides the possibility of continuous updating of data. The data will be published gradually over units.
