The chapter No. 6 starts with an overview of Polish and Czech second-order cities within the respective national settlement systems. The next part of chapter introduces the four case studies (Lódź, Gdańsk, Brno and Ostrava) together with their inner-city areas in more detail. Finally, it is taken a city-wide overview of the two dimensions of residential change: residents and residence.
