Die Autoren befassen sich mit der sog. Tischglocke Rudolfs II. und mit ihrem Autor, dem Goldschmied Hans de Bull, der bei dem kaiserlichen Hof in Prag tätig war. Zugleich befasste sich die Studie mit der Symbilk der Glocke und deren Zusammenhänge mit den Interessen des Kaisers um Magie. Die Autorem belegen, dass die Glocke vorallem durch die philosophische Auffassung der Magie inspiriert wurde, so wie es auf Grund der astrologischen, neuplatonischen und hermetischen Quellen von Marsilio Ficino definiert wurde.

The text’s major focus is the emperor Rudolph II’s so called table bell and its creator, goldsmith Hans von Bull, who worked for the emperor’s court in Prague. Moreover, the authors examine the symbolism of the bell, and its connection to the emperor’s interest in the magic. They conclude that the inspiration for the bell came first and foremost from the philosophical concept of magic, which was defined by Marsilio Ficino using astrological, neoplatonic and hermetic sources.
