Optimization of excitations is proposed using time reversal (TR) invariance, reciprocity, correlation properties, etc. The TR-NEWS approach is implemented on a third molar human tooth. A 10 MHz bandwidth ultrasonic instrumentation is used, including laser vibrometer and a 20 MHz contact piezoelectric transducer. Nonlinear signature coming from the symmetry properties is experimentally observed in the tooth using bi-modal TR-NEWS imaging after and before focusing induced by the time-compression process. The TR-NEWS polar B-scan of the tooth is described and suggested as a potential application for modern echodentography.
