Anotace
The cyanobacterial genus Anabaena is heterogeneous. By molecular methods were revised two clusters, the typical Anabaena forming mats in various aquatic habitats and the planktic cluster with solitary trichomes and gas vesicles in cells (Dolichospermum). Both these revised genera are characterized also by special phenotypic markers. A group of pantropical species is different phenotypically, by structure of filaments and by type of akinete formations from both above mentioned genera and must be classified in a special genus. The phenotype characterization and the review of this whole cluster (genus) are summarised in the article.
