The paper discusses Gaston Bachelard’s work with special interest in historical examples of surviving, although discarded scientific knowledge. It suggests that by focusing on the resistance deployed by diverse elements of science that were disallowed as invalid, we are susceptible to expanding historical epistemology’s range of competency.
