Tato kniha je věnována otázce, jak změny ve strukturách církve a společnosti v husitském období ovlivnily kulturní praxi, myšlení a rozumění světu. Cílem knihy je zdůraznit, že vzhledem k revizi systému hodnot, přeskupení kulturních důrazů a novým společenským konfiguracím byly všechny seriózní pokusy o náboženskou reformu v pozdním středověku a raném novověku zároveň pokusem o kulturní re-formaci (přetváření). Studie interpretující dochované prameny na pozadí předpokládané náboženské změny ukázaly, (1.) jak apriorní koncept (typicky některá významná teze husitského teologického programu) vedl k předefinování interpretačního rámce, nebo (2.) jak nová náboženská či sociální praxe proměnila diskurz reflektující danou problematiku. Studie postulující změnu v mocensko-politické oblasti způsobenou husitskou revolucí popisují (3.) potřebu generovat pod vlivem společenských proměn legitimizační diskurzy, nebo konečně (4.) stabilitu sociálně podmíněného jednání a norem navzdory mocenským přesunům.

This volume is devoted to the question of how the transformations in the ecclesiastic and social structures during the Hussite period influenced cultural practices, thought, and worldviews. The book aims to emphasize the fact that, with reference to the revision of values, the rearrangement of cultural priorities, and the emergence of new social configurations, all serious attempts at religious reform in the late medieval and early modern periods were simultaneously attempts at cultural re-formation (transformation). The research for this book identified four types of transformations of cultural codes. The studies interpreting surviving sources against the backdrop of assumed religious transformations showed 1) how a given concept (typically a certain important point of the Hussite theological program) led to the redefinition of the interpretative framework, or 2) how a new religious or social practice shaped the discourse of a given problematic. Those studies postulating a change in the political situation caused by the Hussite revolution described 3) the necessity, influenced by social transformations, to create legitimizing discourses, and finally 4) the stability of socially-conditioned behaviours and norms despite shifts in power.
