In the epilogue Holmwood provides a penetrating historical analysis of the social and political conditions of public higher education in a neoliberal market context. He offers a commentary on the lines of action that may be fruitful in collective efforts to improve the ‘health’ of the HE sector internationally at this pivotal time and concludes with a galvanizing call for collective action to mitigate the ‘instrumentalization of knowledge’ and ‘erosion of democracy’.
