Konference navazovala na výstavu “Afrodita dnes”, kterou pořádala Akademie věd České republiky a Spolek grafických umělců Hollar. Výstava se konala ve výstavní síni “Věda a umění” v hlavní budově Akademie věd, Národní 3. Na výstavě byla vystavena současná grafická díla inspirovaná Afroditou v konfrontaci s odlitky antických soch této bohyně a odlitky jejích renesančních verzí z Belvedéru na Pražském hradě. Publikaci katalogu výstavy vydalo nakladatelství Academia. Odborné zasedání pořádané ve spolupráci s Ústavem pro dějiny umění FFUK projednalo modality antické bohyně ve starověku i způsoby její recepce napříč staletími, zejména kulturně- a umělecko-historicky. Na konferenci vystoupili přední čeští odborníci na danou problematiku, prof. P. Wittlich, prof. J. Royt, prof. R. Prahl, prof. J. Bažant a další. Příspěvky na konferenci budou vydány ve sborníku.

The conference was a follow-up to the exhibition “Aphrodite Today” organized by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the Society of Graphic Artists Hollar. The exhibition was held in the exhibition hall “Science and Art” in the main building of the Academy of Sciences, Národní 3. The exhibition featured contemporary graphic works inspired by Aphrodite in confrontation with casts of ancient statues of this goddess and casts of Renaissance versions of her from the Belvedere at Prague Castle. The exhibition catalogue was published by Academia. The scientific conference organized in cooperation with the Institute of Art History of the Faculty of Arts of the Faculty of Arts of the Czech Republic discussed the modalities of the ancient goddess in antiquity and the ways of her reception across the centuries, especially culturally and art-historically. The conference was attended by leading Czech experts on the subject, Prof. P. Wittlich, Prof. J. Royt, Prof. R. Prahl, Prof. J. Bažant and others. The conference papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
