Gāi yánjiū de zhòngdiǎn shì xìjù “liǎng qí zài mǎshàng, yī qí zài lǘ shàng”(dé wǎ·nà·kē ní, jié dēng·nà àosīlù,1971 nián), zhè shì 1968 nián 8 yuè huáshā gōngyuē bùduì dǐdá hòu chūxiàn zài jiékè jùyuàn de zuì zhòngyào de xìjù zuòpǐn zhī yī. Zài 15 shìjì de lìshǐ bèijǐng xià fāshēng de xìjù de zhōngxīn zhǔtí shì gèrén duì qí xíngwéi de dàoyì zérèn. Tā duì dāngshí bèi guānfāng rènkě de yìshù kuàngjià nèi de “lìshǐ gōngpíng” chí huáiyí tàidù, bìng tíchūle gèrén yǔ quánwēi zhī jiān guānxì de jīběn dàodé kùnjìng.

The study is focused on The play Two on horseback, one on a donkey (Dva na koni, jeden na oslu, 1971), which belongs among the most significant dramatic works that appeared in Czech theatre after the arrival of Warsaw Pact Forces in August 1968. The central theme of the play which takes place against a 15th century historical backdrop is the individual‘s moral responsibility for their actions. It casts a sceptical eye on the “fairness of history” within the framework of what was then officially approved art and proposes a basic moral dilemma in the relationship between an individual and authority.
