Der Aufsatz beschäftigt sich mit den archäologischen Quellen in Bezug auf die römische militärische Anwesenheit im Gebiet nördlich der Donau, insbesondere in der Zeit der Markomannenkriege. Es bietet eine kurze Zusammenfassung der neuesten Informationen, die während mehrerer Grantprojekte in vergangenen zwanzig Jahren erworben wurden. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit wurde gewidmet den langjährigen Ausgrabungen der riesigen römischen Befestigungen in Mušov bei Mikulov und deren Umgebung. Darüber hinaus versucht der Aufsatz um eine Überprüfung der Datierung und Deutung des berühmten Fürstengrabes, das in achtzigen Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts in der Nachbarschaft der römischen Befestigung entdeckt wurde.

The paper is devoted to the body of archeological evidence relating to the Roman military presence at the time of Marcomannic Wars in the area nort to the Danube and in Moravia (Czech Republic). It provides a summary of new informations during the successive grant projects in the past twenty years. Special attention has been paid tot he results of the long term excavations of the Roman fort at Mušov nearby Mikulov and it ist neighbourhood. Furthermore the paper tries for a reappraisal of the dating and significane oft he well-know princely grave discovered in the eighties of the past century in the vicinity of Roman fort and reveals new wiews on the problem of the aftermath of the wars and ist chronology.
