Despite of remarkable progress of polycrystalline-SMA constitutive modeling in the past two decades, coupling of phase transformation, reorientation and irreversible deformation processes in one complex. model still poses a challenge. The difficulties are related, e.g., to quantitative determination of contributions of individual deformation mechanisms in experiments or to the choice of suitable way of their efficient description in a constitutive model, since coping with mutual interaction of multiple processes becomes more difficult within conventional phenomenological plasticity modeling framework. In present contribution, we discuss these with respect to experimental findings available in the literature and with regard to a possible alternative modeling approach based on Generalized Standard Material (GSM) framework.
