Studie se zabývá fotografickou dokumentací ke knize „Měla jsem moc krásné dětství“, v níž byly zveřejněny upravené rozhovory s obyvateli Brna německého původu, kteří v nich vzpomínali na své dětství a mládí v tomto městě ve 20.–40. letech 20. století. Vybrané fotografie v této knize mají za úkol přiblížit čtenářům každodenní život narátorů a narátorek v Brně ze dvou perspektiv, z perspektivy „rodiny“ a „města“. Autorky studie (a zároveň editorky zmíněné knihy) ve studii jednak představují konvoluty/sbírky fotografií, z nichž vycházely při sestavování fotografické dokumentace a které jsou uchovávány na brněnském pracovišti Etnologického ústavu AV ČR, v. v. i., a v Archivu města Brna, jednak se věnují okolnostem a charakteristickým znakům, které zvolené soubory fotografií doprovázejí a které ovlivnily i konečnou podobu jeho prezentování v knize.

The article focuses on photographs published in the book “I had a wonderful childhood”. This book consists from 13 oral history interviews with inhabitants of Brno of German origin who remembered their childhood and youth in Brno in the 1920´s-1940´s. The published photographs give insight into the everyday life of the narrators in the chosen period of time from two different points of view – from the perspective of family and city. The authors of the study (and editors of the book at the same time) deal with two photo collections that the photos from the book originate from (collection at the Institute of Ethnology at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Brno and collection of the Archive of the City of Brno), moreover they pay their attention to characteristic features of the photographs and to contexts that accompany them and that influenced the selection of the photos for the book.
