Some structural and optical properties of (Bi2O3)x(ZnO)60-x(B2O3)40 glasses.

Series of (Bi2O3)x(ZnO)60-x(B2O3)40 glasses were prepared from pure oxides. The dilatomeric glass transition temperatures, the coefficients of thermal expansion, the optical band gap and the coefficients of their temperature dependencies and the non-linear refractive indexes of the studied glasses were determined. From spectra of Raman scattering and the far infrared spectra suggested that major Bi-based structural entities are BiO6 units.
