Studie představuje význam antické myšlenky sympatie či harmonie aktivních potencí pocházejících z jedné duše pro Suárezovu argumentaci ve prospěch nesmrtelnosti lidské duše. Suárezova argumentace, založená na předpokladu kauzální nezávislosti intelektu na imaginaci, je představena jako odpověď na výzvu Pietra Pomponazziho, který ve svém Tractatus de immortalitate animae (1516) popřel jakoukoli možnost racionálního důkazu nesmrtelnosti lidské duše, založeném na východiscích Aristotelovy filosofie.

The study brings to the attention the importance of the idea of the sympathy or harmony of the active potencies springing from the common soul for Suárez's argumentation on behalf of the immortality of human soul. Suárez's argumentation, based on the assumption of the causal independence of the intellect upon imagination, is presented as the answer to the challenge of Pietro Pomponazzi, who in his Tractatus de immortalitate animae (1516) denied any possibility of the rational proof of the immortality of the human soul, based on the resources of Aristotle's philosophy.
