Monografie se skládá ze dvou hlavních částí. První ze zabývá výkladem Órigenova listu Řehoři Divotvůrci (Gregorius Thaumaturgus), který pojednává o tom, „kdy a komu jsou užitečné filosofické nauky“ pro theologii. Přináší jeho první český překlad a výklad, doplněný o překlady a krátké výklady nejznámějších alegorezí, které se vztahují k problematice vztahu filosofie a theologie, či obecněji řečeno křesťanství a pohanského myšlení. Druhá část je založena na (prvním českém) překladu a výkladu Órigenovy předmluvy k jeho dílu Peri archón. Órigenés se ve své programové předmluvě zabývá možností theologie a kriteriem theologie. Součástí předmluvy je Órigenovo vyznání víry, a najdeme zde i důležité motivy jeho spirituality a s ní spjatý náčrt jeho chápání paideie.

The monograph is made up of two main parts. The first one comprises an exposition of Origen's letter to Gregorius Thaumaturgus on the subject of "when and to whom philosophical learning is useful" for theology. It presents the first Czech translation and exposition of a work by him, together with translations and short expositions of the most famous allegoreses on the issue of the relationship between philosophy and theology, or more generally speaking, between Christian and pagan thought. The second part is based on the (first Czech) translation and exposition of Origen's preface to his work Peri archón. In his programme preface Origen deals with the options and the criteria of theology. The preface includes Origen's confession of faith, and we also find important motifs of his spirituality and an associated outline of his understanding of paideia.
