Shallow marine deposits of the Prague Basin and the Graz Palaeozoic were evaluated to trace the Basal Chotec Event close to the Emsian/Eifelian boundary. This event, recognized and typified within the pelagic sequence of the Prague Basin is the first of three globally documented Middle Devonian events. Two sections are compared regarding fossil content, sedimentary conditions, and geochemical composition spanning critical interval: Cerveny Quarry in Prague Basin and Forstweg Attems in Graz Palaeozoic. This critical interval is represented by the boundary between Suchomasty and Acanthopyge limestone members (Daleje-Trebotov and Chotec formations) in Prague Basin, and, similarly, between Flosserkogel and Plabutsch formations in Graz Palaeozoic.
