The paper presents an optical method for evaluation of the state of surface of the cultural heritage objects. The technique is based on statistical evaluation of brightness and colour saturation characteristics obtained from scans of the object's surface acquired on-site by portable scanner. Repetitive application of the method at the same location of the monument surface enables for monitoring of the studied statistical parameters, analyzing their trends and predicting the time when a surface degradation threshold value will be reached triggering the need for repair or maintenance intervention.

Článek představuje optickou metodu pro hodnocení stavu povrchů objektů kulturního dědictví. Technika je založena na statistickém vyhodnocení charakteristik jasu a sytosti barvy, získaných ze záznamů povrchu objektů, pořízených přenosným skenerem. Opakovaná aplikace metody ve stejném místě historické fasády umožňuje monitorování studovaných parametrů, rozbor jejich trendů a předpověď doby potřebného údržbového nebo opravného zásahu.
